Artist Statement
Militsa is an artist, designer and maker based in Glasgow. She creates jewellery and objects as a means of communicating her thoughts and feelings and draws inspiration mainly from her surroundings and personal experiences. In her practice she explores various concepts that intrigue her, while triggering her creativity by experimenting with different materials. Through the use of discarded materials and found objects, she challenges the notion of value in materials and poses the question of what is considered precious and why.
Responsibility statement
I strongly believe that the damage the human race has brought upon this planet is tremendous and irreversible. Therefore as a human I find myself responsible for producing as little waste and damage to the planet as I can.
Nature, sustainability and recycling play a huge role in my practice and often initiate the ideas for my designs. In my studio I use safe, non-toxic alternatives to clean my jewellery and strive to keep my brand eco-friendly. For the creation of my pieces, I use recycled and eco-silver, leftover materials and found items. My packaging is recyclable or reusable and sourced from companies or small businesses who try their best to be sustainable.
