Wabi sabi

Wabi - Sabi is a Japanese philosophy based on finding beauty in imperfection, incompletion, the passage of time.

It is about understanding that every little thing is perfect the way it is no matter what it has been through.

For instance, an abandoned building and the way nature has found her way in through cracked walls.

Used broken furniture inside, rust that has been building up for years on utensils left behind.

When I come across such sights, I always wonder what these items looked like before.

For they have obtained a new meaning, being reminders of a time no longer existent.

I aimed to create pieces that would express the importance of nature's imperfections.

The shapes and textures were inspired by natural elements I had come across in the past.
